Neurodivergent Friendly Sewing For Kids

The Creative and Crafty Club has been set up for children with Autism and/or ADHD between the ages of 8 and 18 and their parents.

It gives the children the opportunity to be creative in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with simple projects that can be tailored to their interests. It gives them the chance to meet other people who share their passion! It gives the parents a chance to learn more about their child’s interest and how to support them in it. It also gives them a chance to meet other parents and support each other.

I have an autistic son so I know some of the challenges young neurodivergent people can face. I am working to make the sessions as welcoming as possible to everyone.

  • The studio is open for pre-class visits to answer any and all questions.
  • All classes have a visual plan with breaks scheduled and all instructions are clearly broken down.
  • Flexibility is built into the sessions to account for personal preferences and energy levels.
  • Information about triggers, specific requests and special interests will be collected to before the session.
  • A dedicated quiet space is available with ear defenders and sensory toys.

We want as many families as possible to benefit from these sessions so unlike our other sessions we have a flexible payment structure so people can pay what they can afford.

  • Ā£2.50 will cover the costs of refreshments and basic studio overheads.
  • Ā£10 will cover the costs of materials, refreshments and overheads.
  • Ā£25 will cover the costs of materials, refreshments, overheads and tutors’ salaries.

Cancellation policy:

I know how much it can be a worry if your child will be comfortable at a session and want to stay. If you book a session and your child gets overwhelmed once they arrive they can come back again for a one to one session. You can also cancel for a full refund on the day if your morning is not working out. Please note: This cancellation policy only applies to these sessions in recognition to the particular needs of the participants.

Please note:

There is a dog and two cats at Make it Fab. They are kept away from the studio but you might hear barking and see them in the garden.
